CARING FOR OUR COMMUNITY
Impacting Children's Lives
For more than 15 years, our partnership with nearby Jackson Elementary School has positively impacted the lives of thousands of students, families, and faculty. We have helped students prepare to be independent and responsible citizens within a changing community by respecting their individuality and promoting self-esteem in a safe, caring, learning environment. Students have learned a great deal about the business community, a variety of careers, hospitals, and Rockford in general. SwedishAmerican's program provides Jackson's teachers and administrators with additional resources, volunteer manpower, community interaction, and a wellspring of administrative knowledge. Over the years, we have impacted Jackson School in a number of areas, including:
School Physicals: Each spring, in cooperation with the Winnebago County Health Department and University of Illinois College of Medicine residency program, SwedishAmerican provides free physicals to students who will be entering kindergarten and fifth grades the following fall.
Career/Academic Development: In order to help young people understand the economics of life and open their minds to career possibilities within the business world, SwedishAmerican sponsors a Junior Achievement program and hosts "career days."
Goodwill: Employee efforts to impact Jackson School students range from hat and mitten drives to holiday donations of food, clothing and toys during the holidays.
Recognition: Three times per year, SwedishAmerican provides a luncheon and gifts for students achieving the honor roll. We also recognize teachers in different ways.
SwedishAmerican's relationship with Jackson School truly is a partnership. Students have experienced the joy of giving by making tray favors for patients on holidays, making gifts for pediatric and cancer patients, singing Christmas carols for employees and patients, and creating paintings and murals for the hospital.
